American Airlines Unveils Luxurious Boeing 777-300ER Makeover

American Airlines has unveiled its newly retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, which now features more premium seats than ever before. The airline's first 77W to receive this makeover operated a nonstop flight from DFW International Airport in Dallas to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Wednesday.

The updated aircraft boasts 70 flagship suite lie-flat seats, 44 premium economy seats, and 30 extra legroom seats in the main cabin. This is an increase from its previous layout, which had 60 lie-flat seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 28 extra legroom seats.

The new design concept took several years to develop, according to Rhonda Crawford, American's senior vice president of customer experience and design strategy. The airline aims to balance various constituencies, including revenue management, pricing, profitability, and competitiveness, while also considering global industry trends.

American has 20 Boeing 777-300ERs in its fleet, all of which are expected to be retrofitted with the new premium interior by the end of next year. The updated aircraft will be deployed to American's most premium markets, including Tokyo and Sydney.
