American Airlines is upgrading its Boeing 777-300ER fleet to offer luxury travel experiences for high-end international passengers. The airline has unveiled its first retrofitted aircraft, which features a new premium configuration with 144 seats, including 70 lie-flat Flagship Suite seats with sliding doors.

The upgraded plane also includes 44 Premium Economy seats and 30 Main Cabin Extra seats, while the remaining 186 seats are in the standard cabin. This marks the next step in American's premium travel strategy, which aims to narrow the gap with rival airlines Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

By next year, all 20 of American's Boeing 777-300ERs will have undergone this upgrade, with similar changes planned for its Airbus A321XLR fleet. This move is part of a broader effort by American to enhance its loyalty program, improve reliability, and expand international routes.
