American Express Revises Indian Card Benefits, Withdraws Two Services
American Express is revamping its card benefits and support services in India. The company will be withdrawing two services: 'Check Your Spending Power' on September 16 and Emergency Card Replacement from October 8. These changes are separate from the broader revision of American Express rewards, including the closure of its Reward Multiplier programme and alterations to milestone benefits on the Platinum Travel Credit Card.
The removal of 'Check Your Spending Power' means customers will no longer be able to test whether a proposed transaction is likely to be approved before making the purchase. However, this does not affect American Express's normal transaction approval process.
American Express is also discontinuing its Emergency Card Replacement service from October 8. This change may impact frequent travellers who lose their card overseas or immediately before a trip. The company will continue to provide standard replacement services and applicable protection in case of a lost or stolen card.
