American Express Shifts Formula 1 Sponsorship from Visibility to Experiential Engagement

American Express has significantly expanded its partnership with Formula 1 in recent years. Since 2025, it has been the Official Payments Partner of Formula 1, with its presence growing from five races in the Americas in 2024 to over 20 events across the international calendar. This multi-year global sponsorship is not just about brand visibility; American Express' strategy is rooted in its Membership Model, which turns sponsorships into tangible opportunities for Members to engage with their passions.

The 'Think Global, Act Local' philosophy ensures a consistent Membership experience across international markets while adapting to the interests of local audiences. The Italian Grand Prix at Monza provided an example of this approach. During the race weekend, Card Members had access to services and activations designed to make the experience smoother and more engaging.

The collaboration extends beyond the circuit, with Card Members gaining access to American Express presales for Formula 1 Grand Prix tickets worldwide in 2026. Additional experiences are available at selected races. The partnership also supports F1 ACADEMY, the all-female championship, through themes of female empowerment and support for local communities.
