Amgen's Dazodalibep Scores Big Win in Sjogren's Study
Amgen's dazodalibep has reported positive results in its pivotal late-stage study for treating systemic Sjogren's disease, a chronic autoimmune condition. The OASIZ study met its primary endpoint, showing statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement at week forty-eight on the ESSDAI index of systemic disease activity.
The benefits were noticeable as early as week four and were sustained through the end of the study. Dazodalibep is a fusion protein that blocks the interaction between two immune molecules, CD-forty and its ligand, which drives inflammation and autoantibody production.
Amgen acquired dazodalibep as part of its Horizon Therapeutics deal, aiming to diversify beyond its mature products. The Sjogren's readout is among the first big late-stage validations of this strategy.
