Android Users Find Workaround for Google Keep's Security Shortcoming

Google Keep has been a stalwart note-taking app for many users, including the author of this piece. However, one major drawback has kept its users from fully maximizing its potential: the lack of a native lock feature.

The author, who is also a tech reviewer and writer, has used Google Keep for as long as they can remember. They have stored sensitive information such as account credentials and recovery details in the app, but without a lock feature, they felt uneasy leaving their notes exposed.

In search of an alternative, the author tested several note-taking apps, including Samsung Notes, Microsoft OneNote, and Evernote. However, each had its own drawbacks, such as limited storage or restrictive monetization schemes.

The breakthrough came with the introduction of Private Space on Android 15, a feature that essentially provides an isolated container within the app drawer for sensitive data. The author was able to move their Keep notes into this secure space and lock it with biometric authentication or a passcode.
