The U.S. government is investigating Singapore-based Apex Logistics for suspected shipments of Nvidia AI chips to China, potentially marking the first action against a transportation company in the illicit semiconductor trade.

Authorities are examining whether Apex transported Super Micro Computer's AI systems in violation of U.S. export restrictions, which have been in place since 2022 due to national security concerns.

The probe focuses on shipments handled in 2024 and highlights the role freight companies play in supply chains allegedly used to circumvent U.S. restrictions on advanced AI hardware.

Nvidia said it works with established partners to ensure sales comply with export controls, but the investigation has already covered 47 Apex shipments.
