Apple Enters Indian Payments Market with Apple Pay Partnership
Apple Inc. has launched its payments service in India, marking a significant move to expand its presence in the country's vast consumer market. The US tech giant announced that Apple Pay will start operating in partnership with local lender Axis Bank Ltd.
The partnership allows Axis Bank customers to store their credit or debit cards in the Apple Wallet on iPhones and Apple Watches, enabling them to make payments using their devices. This move aims to boost Apple's presence in a key growth market with over 1 billion consumers.
Apple Pay is now live in India after months of preparation, giving it an opportunity to compete directly with other major players such as Google and Paytm. The service promises users a seamless payment experience across various merchants and online platforms.
