Apple Gains Institutional Support with $719M Varma Investment
Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Co has acquired new shares in Apple Inc., investing approximately $719 million. The insurance company bought 2,484,883 shares of AAPL during the second quarter, making it its fifth-largest holding in the portfolio at 3.8%. This is not an isolated instance, as several other institutional investors have also increased their stakes in Apple.
Nuveen LLC, for example, boosted its position by 3.8% in the fourth quarter and now owns over $20 billion worth of AAPL shares. Similarly, Amundi increased its stake by 23.2% in the first quarter, while Dimensional Fund Advisors LP grew its holding by 1.7% during the same period.
The acquisition highlights Apple's growing appeal to institutional investors, who now own nearly 68% of the company's stock. The tech giant's record run and high valuation have attracted profit-taking concerns, but analysts continue to cite earnings beats, strong cash generation, and improving product momentum as reasons for their optimism.
