A federal jury in San Diego has ruled that iPhone maker Apple (AAPL) must pay over $5.7 billion to Taction Technology for using its patented technology to power haptic feedback in iPhones and Apple Watches.

The verdict, which is the largest of its kind, does not find Apple's infringement willful. However, Apple plans to appeal the decision.

Taction Technology initially sued Apple in 2021 for improperly capitalizing on Taction's innovation and success by selling devices that infringed on its vibration technology.
