Apple Stock Edges Higher Despite Two Major Legal Bills
Apple's stock price rose slightly on Monday despite facing two significant legal challenges. The company is dealing with a revived UK consumer claim over its sales agreement with Amazon in 2018, which estimates damages of between $431 million and $898 million before interest.
The tribunal allowed claims involving purchases made through Amazon's UK marketplace to proceed while dismissing claims related to purchases from Apple and other retailers. This decision is significant as it could impact the company's future sales agreements with third-party marketplaces.
Separately, a US jury awarded Taction more than $5.7 billion in a patent case involving haptic technology, but Apple has stated that it will appeal this verdict.
The stock price of AAPL rose by about 0.3% to $342.23 on Monday morning, which is still above its estimated value of $287.18 based on the company's GF Value metric. This means that investors are paying a premium for Apple's shares despite the ongoing legal disputes.
