Apple Stock Faces Uncertain Fate After iPhone 18 Launch

Apple's iPhone 18 launch is expected to be a major event for the company. According to Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan, Apple stock has a history of recovering after iPhone launches. In fact, since the original iPhone was launched in 2007, Apple shares have risen in the 60 days following an iPhone reveal 17 times.

The biggest post-launch gain was 20% when Apple shares climbed 20% in the 60 days after the iPhone 11 was unveiled in 2019. This year's reaction to the iPhone 18 launch may be different, however, as investors will be watching how much Apple raises prices, how well customers adopt its Siri AI features, and what the company says about demand for foldable iPhones.

The iPhone Ultra, a rumored foldable iPhone, is expected to have a starting price of over $2,000. Citi analysts estimate that Apple could sell around 5 million units of this device in the second half of 2026, with sales continuing into 2027. The company is also expected to introduce new AI-focused features and refreshed software.
