Arista Networks, Inc. (ANET) has seen a sharp decline of 21.2% over the past month, despite strong financial results that highlight accelerating growth. This disconnect raises questions about whether the selloff presents a buying opportunity or if the stock remains vulnerable to execution and valuation pressures.
ANET's fundamentals remain robust. Third-quarter 2026 revenues surged 58.5% year over year to $3.66 billion, while non-GAAP earnings rose 55.8% to $1.20 per share. The company also raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook for the fourth time to approximately $13.3 billion, implying 48% annual growth. For 2027, management projects revenue growth of 38% to 40%, with non-GAAP operating margin expected at approximately 49%.
Arista's AI opportunity continues to expand, with over 100 Etherlink customers in the third quarter. AI fabric revenues are expected to double to approximately $7 billion in 2027. However, competition is intensifying, with Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) also targeting the AI infrastructure market.
Despite the strong growth, ANET still carries execution and concentration risks. Management expects at least three customers to each contribute more than 10% of 2026 revenues, leaving results exposed to changes in individual capital budgets. Additionally, inventory and purchase commitments have increased, adding another layer of risk.
ANET trades at 32.0X forward 12-month earnings per share, above the 27.2X multiple for the Zacks sub-industry. The premium valuation leaves less room for error if pricing competition increases or profitability softens. Non-GAAP gross margin was 64% in the third quarter, down from 65.2% a year earlier.
The pullback has made ANET more attractive, but the setup is not without constraints. Rapid earnings and revenue growth, rising AI adoption, and a lower valuation than its five-year median support selective interest, while customer concentration and heavy purchase commitments argue against treating the decline as an automatic bargain.
