ARK Invest Drops $78 Million on Nvidia Amid AI Chip Allocation Shift
Cathie Wood's investment firm ARK Invest has made significant changes to its AI-chip allocation, buying $78.8 million worth of Nvidia shares and trimming Advanced Micro Devices holdings.
The move comes as Nvidia's stock has risen about 22% in 2026, while AMD has advanced a remarkable 184%. This divergence in performance led ARK Invest to rebalance its portfolio.
Nvidia is poised for growth with the upcoming Vera Rubin platform entering customer deployments and AWS planning to deploy over 2 million Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra GPUs during 2027 and 2028. The company has also expanded its buyback authorization and pursued a deal for Hugging Face.
Meanwhile, AMD continues to build its AI business through the Helios platform and an agreement with Anthropic for up to 2 gigawatts of MI450-series GPUs. The company is set to acquire World Labs.
