Army Veteran Richard O. Fossen Dies at 80
Richard O. 'Dick' Fossen, an 80-year-old resident of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Fossen grew up in North Dakota and had a long history of community involvement, including membership in the Sons of Norway and the American Legion. He also enjoyed working concessions at the fair and playing on the church softball team.
A veteran of the United States Army, Fossen served his country in Vietnam after enlisting in 1966. Following his military service, he worked as a painting contractor for Sherwin-Williams.
Fossen was married to Mary Brown on September 24, 1994, and together they built a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, and simple joys. He loved watching football, playing Yahtzee and Tri-Ominos, bowling, doing Sudoku, and reading the newspaper.
