A Chevron gas station in Southwest Miami-Dade was the target of an arson attack earlier this month. The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. on August 31, 2026.

Surveillance footage shows a person approaching a gas pump carrying a bag and a cardboard sign before setting it ablaze. The sign appeared to read 'Cuban Lives Matter. End Embargo.'

The employee operating the station quickly extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher, preventing any further damage.

Resident Jennifer Dominguez condemned the act, stating 'It was very stupid.' She questioned whether such an action would bring justice to Cuba or serve the Hispanic community's interests.
