Asia-Pacific Commercial Aviation Faces Massive Talent Shortage
A new report from Boeing predicts significant growth in commercial aviation across the Asia-Pacific region through 2045. According to Boeing's 2026 Pilot and Technician Outlook, the region will require approximately 969,000 new aviation professionals during this period.
This includes a staggering 272,000 new pilots, with China leading the demand at 123,000 followed by Southeast Asia at 66,000. The report also forecasts that South Asia will need 48,000 pilots and Northeast Asia 24,000.
The total requirement for aviation professionals in the region is broken down into three categories: pilots, maintenance technicians, and cabin crew members. Boeing projects a demand of 302,000 maintenance technicians and 395,000 cabin crew members through 2045.
