AstraZeneca Leader Pam Cheng Named Top Supply Chain Executive

Pam Cheng, Executive Vice President of Global Operations & IT and Chief Sustainability Officer at AstraZeneca, has been named one of the world's top supply chain leaders by Supply Chain Digital. She ranked ninth on their Top 250 Supply Chain Leaders list.

Cheng joined AstraZeneca in 2015 after spending 18 years at Merck and MSD in global manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial roles. At AstraZeneca, she oversees the company's manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, IT, and sustainability functions across 18 countries and a team of over 20,000 employees.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cheng led one of the largest global pharmaceutical supply chain programs in modern history. Under her leadership, AstraZeneca Global Operations developed, manufactured, and supplied more than three billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to over 170 countries, with two-thirds being low- and middle-income nations.

Cheng is now leading AstraZeneca's Factory of the Future transformation initiative. To support increased demand for its medicines, she oversaw the launch of a $300m next-generation cell therapy manufacturing facility in Maryland, US in 2024.
