Asus Unveils 20-Core Beast: ProArt P16 Takes On MacBook Pro
Asus is set to launch its new ProArt P16 laptop on October 8 in China, featuring Nvidia's RTX Spark N1X graphics platform. The 16-inch creator laptop boasts a 20-core CPU and up to 128GB of unified memory, making it an attractive alternative to the Apple MacBook Pro 16.
The ProArt P16 uses a unified memory design, allowing the CPU and GPU to access the same memory pool. This configuration differs from previous models, which paired AMD Ryzen processors with discrete Nvidia graphics.
The laptop will be available with two 16-inch OLED display options: a 3K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 4K version also running at 120Hz. Both panels cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and support touch and stylus input.
For storage, Asus lists up to a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, with two M.2 2280 slots that support PCIe 5.0 x4. The laptop measures 354.1 x 243 x 12.9 to 15.9mm and weighs 1.77kg.
The ProArt P16 will compete directly with the MacBook Pro 16 2026 M5 Pro and MacBook Pro 16 2026 M5 Max, both of which have 18 CPU cores compared to the 20-core CPU in Asus's new model.
