Mortgage Broker Stephanie Galysh Passes Away at 80

Stephanie Galysh, an 80-year-old East Berlin resident, passed away on September 12, 2026. Born in Gangkofen, Germany, she was the daughter of Iwan and Maria (Lotoszynska) Cebrij. Galysh had a long career as a mortgage broker in the banking industry and also worked for IBM. She was an active member of two local churches: Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown.

Galysh enjoyed gardening and spending time with her friends at Immaculate Heart of Mary's ladies' lunch group. She also cared for three cats. Her family includes siblings Eugene Cebrij and Mike Cebrij, nieces and nephews Claire, Laura, John Cebrij, Roman Galysh, great-nieces Anastasia, Sophia, Madelyn, and a great-nephew named Roman Jr.

The family will hold a viewing on September 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care in East Berlin, followed by a Panakhyda service at 7:30 p.m. A graveside service is scheduled for September 29 at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Campbell Hall, New York.
