AT&T Targets Double-Digit Growth with Fiber-Led Convergence Plan
AT&T's CEO John Stankey outlined a long-term growth plan built around fiber, wireless, and customer convergence during a fireside chat at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026. The company aims for a double-digit earnings-per-share compound annual growth rate through 2028, driven by fiber-led convergence and operational leverage.
The convergence rate has reached about 45%, up 5 percentage points in two years, excluding Lumen assets. Stankey emphasized that the company's strategy is to build products and features that work better for customers and raise the value of the household over time.
AT&T plans to remove $6 billion in legacy costs through copper retirement, central office shutdowns, and related actions. The goal is to create a simpler business with more agility and a clearer focus by the end of the decade.
