AT&T Teams with Amazon Leo on Satellite Broadband Play
AT&T Business and Amazon Leo have partnered to bring satellite broadband connectivity to enterprise and public sector customers. The deal marks AT&T's first major foray into using low Earth orbit (LEO) networks, which will be bundled with existing fibre and 5G services.
The companies plan to offer the connectivity as a fully managed service, providing one bill, one point of contact, and round-the-clock customer service. AT&T will also provide the equipment needed to connect to the satellites.
According to Shawn Hakl, SVP and head of product at AT&T Business, enterprise and public sector customers require reliable connectivity across fibre, 5G, and satellite in a single managed architecture.
The deployment is expected to be phased, with business-grade reliability taking precedence. Pricing and configuration details will be released in the coming months.
