Atlas Energy Solutions Stock Surges on AI Data Center Deals
Atlas Energy Solutions Inc. (NYSE:AESI) saw its stock surge on Friday after announcing deals tied to AI data center projects.
The agreements extend Atlas' expansion beyond its traditional proppant and logistics business into private power infrastructure, specifically in the realm of AI customer-backed equipment purchases.
Two subsidiaries signed cost reimbursement agreements with a leading frontier AI lab covering long-lead-time infrastructure and additional power-generation equipment. One agreement covers balance-of-plant equipment supporting existing generator orders under Atlas' Global Framework Agreement (GFA) with Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT), including emissions controls, electrical distribution systems, and battery energy storage.
The second agreement covers 283 megawatts of additional Caterpillar generation equipment for a separate data center project, while Atlas also signed a purchase agreement for 328 megawatts of generating capacity to be delivered in 2027 under the GFA.
This follows Atlas' earlier moves into power generation, including securing roughly 1.4 gigawatts of additional Caterpillar generation capacity under an approximately $840 million framework agreement and a five-year power purchase agreement covering 120 megawatts.
