AWS Sounds Alarm on Data Center Moratoriums Threatening US AI Lead
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has published a lengthy blog post warning that a halt to data center development in the US could cost the nation ground in the global AI race.
The company's CEO, Matt Garman, argued that there is urgency to the data center build-out because other countries also see the benefits of AI for their economies and national security. He stated that 'the choices we make today will determine the outcome' and that a lapse in focus or resolve could put the US behind.
Garman pointed out that more than 100 data center moratoriums are being considered across the country, which he said would be detrimental to the nation's position in the AI race. He also claimed that other countries are intentionally seeding misinformation about data centers in the US to trick it into slowing down.
