Bangladesh Orders 11 Boeing Jets in Bid to Bolster Aviation Sector

Bangladesh's aviation sector is set to expand as Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed an agreement to purchase 11 new aircraft from Boeing, a US-based manufacturer. The deal was announced by Mahdi Amin, an advisor to the Prime Minister, during a press conference in New York on September 22, 2026.

The agreement aims to boost the country's aviation sector and take advantage of its long-standing commercial relationship with Boeing. High-ranking US government representatives attended the signing ceremony, including US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.

Mahdi Amin stated that discussions may also be held with Airbus in the future, depending on Bangladesh's requirements. The purchase of new aircraft is a strategic move to expand the country's aviation sector and enhance its connectivity with the world.
