Bangladesh Unveils First ESG Champions Amid Growing Sustainability Push

Twenty companies in Bangladesh have been crowned as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) champions by the country's Ministry of Environment. The awards were given in 20 categories including energy transition, water stewardship, carbon emission control, occupational health and safety, worker wellbeing, skills development, gender equity, supply chain management, sustainability reporting, and product and digital innovation. Companies such as Envoy Textiles, Q Collection, Urmi Group, and Masco Group received recognition for their efforts in ESG.

The list of companies recognized includes a mix of manufacturing, technology, and finance sectors. Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Banglalink, bKash, Coca-Cola Bangladesh, Bata Bangladesh, Reckitt Benckiser, City Bank, IPDC Finance, Green Delta Insurance, and others were among the recipients.

The Ministry of Environment has been actively promoting ESG practices in the country. This recognition is seen as a step towards encouraging more companies to adopt sustainable practices.
