Banks Unveil Plans for Bank-Owned Blockchain Network Amid Stablecoin Frenzy
A bank-owned blockchain network is set to launch in 2027, backed by over 3,000 institutions and $21.8 trillion in assets.
The BankChain Alliance plans to build a network that will support tokenized deposits, stablecoins, smart payment tools, and automated settlement.
This comes as major US banks like JPMorgan Chase are reportedly exploring their own stablecoin projects.
Shares of Circle (CRCL) and Coinbase (COIN) have fallen by over 3% in midday trade amid concerns that traditional lenders could increasingly compete with crypto-native issuers.
