Beacon Veteran Dennis Lahey Leaves Lasting Legacy

Dennis Lahey, also known as Denny Lahey, passed away on September 18 at the age of 92. The veteran and longtime resident of Beacon, New York, spent his life serving his community in various capacities.

Born on October 23, 1933, in Poughkeepsie, Lahey enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1954. After his military service, he began a 34-year career with IBM in East Fishkill, where he eventually retired.

Lahey was an active member of the Beacon Fire Department for over 65 years, serving as chief and holding various other positions within the department. He was also a social member of S.W. Johnson Engine Co. No. 2 in Wappingers Falls.
