Beverage Brands Tap Drop Culture for Limited-Time Halloween Releases
As Halloween approaches, beverage brands are getting into the spirit by releasing limited-time offerings that promise to create a sense of urgency and exclusivity. Brands like Coca-Cola's Fanta and PepsiCo's Mountain Dew are using drop culture tactics to build excitement around their seasonal releases.
Fanta's Haunted Universe is one such example, which promises new stories, content, experiences, and surprises throughout the season. The brand has also partnered with major horror film franchises in the past, including Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. This year, Fanta moves from collaborator to creator by building original characters, storylines, and an entertainment universe of its own.
Mountain Dew and Trolli are taking a similar approach with their limited-edition Mango Pineapple Punch beverage launch. The brands are offering exclusive kits available only at Walmart.com while supplies last, which will also be available in more retailers nationwide through October. This strategy is designed to create social currency through scarcity and exclusivity.
Other brands like Hershey's Reese's and Chobani are also getting into the spirit with limited-time offerings. Reese's has partnered with The Nitro Bar to create a limited-time Reese's Pumpkins PB Whip Latte, while Chobani is releasing its Ube Sweet Cream Dairy Coffee Creamer with real ube, farm-fresh milk, cream, and cane sugar for a rich, authentic flavor.
