BigHat Biosciences Secures $75 Million in Series C Financing
BigHat Biosciences, a San Mateo-based biotech company developing AI-designed protein therapeutics, has raised $75 million in its Series C financing round. The funding was co-led by DFJ Growth and Premji Invest, bringing the company's total funding to $223 million.
The financing will support BigHat's clinical-stage drug pipeline and the continued development of its autonomous AI platform for protein design. The company has developed an integrated AI and experimental platform that generates proprietary biological data and uses it to accelerate the discovery and optimization of protein-based medicines.
BigHat is advancing two lead programs: BHB810, a novel CDH17-directed antibody-drug conjugate being evaluated for the treatment of gastric cancer and other advanced gastrointestinal tumors, and BHB299, an investigational T-cell engager designed to selectively target solid tumors expressing CEACAM6.
The company has also established collaborations with major pharmaceutical companies, including Amgen, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, AbbVie, and Eli Lilly. BigHat's leadership team has been strengthened with the appointment of Stefan Weigand, Ph.D., as Chief Scientific Officer and John Corbin, Ph.D., as Chief Development Officer.
