Biman Bangladesh Adds to Boeing Dreamliner Fleet with $3.7 Billion Order

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added five more Boeing 787 Dreamliners to its fleet as part of a recent order, bringing the total number of widebodies to 15. The South Asian carrier announced the deal on September 23, with financial terms not disclosed.

The latest order follows an estimated $3.7 billion booking in April for 10 787-10 and four 737 Max 8 jets. The new agreement includes six more of the single-aisle narrowbodies, which are scheduled to be delivered between 2031 and 2035.

All of the Dreamliners that Biman Bangladesh is buying are Dash 10 aircraft, the largest of the three models built by Boeing in South Carolina. The airline's fleet already includes six 787-8 and -9 variants.

Biman Bangladesh placed its first Dreamliner order in 2008, with delivery about a decade later, according to its website. The new jets will burn less fuel than their predecessors and help connect the country with major travel hubs in the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe, said Rumee A Hossain, chairman.
