Biman Bangladesh Places $1 Billion Order for 11 More Boeing Jets

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 11 additional Boeing aircraft as part of its fleet expansion and modernization strategy. The airline, which operates a mix of Boeing 787 Dreamliner, 777, and 737 Next-Generation jets, currently has an order book of 25 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes.

The latest order includes five 787-10 and six 737-8 jets, building on the airline's largest-ever order for 14 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft earlier this year. Biman's chairman, Rumee A Hossain, said that the new planes would support the country's growing international connectivity needs.

The addition of the 737-8 and 787-10 to Biman's fleet will bring greater range and capacity to its operations, with the 787-10 offering higher capacity to complement existing 787-9 and 787-8 aircraft. Boeing's senior vice president for Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, said that the order reflects Biman's strategic approach to fleet renewal and capacity growth.
