Biman Set to Sign Deal for More Boeing Aircraft in New York

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to sign an agreement with Boeing to acquire 11 additional aircraft during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The agreement, scheduled to be signed at 4:15pm local time on Wednesday at the prime minister's place of residence, is part of a larger $3.7 billion deal signed in April for 14 aircraft.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said the approach is demand-driven and that Bangladesh needs to expand its aircraft fleet to open new routes, improve passenger services, and strengthen its position as an aviation gateway in Asia.

Biman Chairman Rumee A Hossain will sign the agreement on behalf of the national flag carrier, while Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir are scheduled to attend the signing ceremony.
