Biman Signs Agreement for Additional Boeing Aircraft to Enhance Global Connectivity

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed an agreement to acquire additional Boeing aircraft as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen international air connectivity and modernize its fleet.

The agreement, signed on September 24 during the UN General Assembly in New York, covers five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 aircraft. This is in addition to a previous order for 14 Boeing aircraft earlier this year, bringing Biman's total Boeing order book to 25 aircraft.

The latest purchase follows Biman's commitment to expanding its network and capacity to meet the growing connectivity needs of people living in Bangladesh, expatriate Bangladeshis, business travelers, and tourists. The airline's Chairman, Rumi A Hossain, stated that the agreement is part of a comprehensive long-term strategy to further strengthen the country's international air connectivity.

Biman currently operates Boeing 787, 777, and 737 Next-Generation aircraft on its international network, connecting Bangladesh with destinations and major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe. The addition of the new aircraft types will enable Biman to maintain operational commonality across its existing Boeing fleet.
