Biman's 100-Aircraft Ambition: Is Expansion Outpacing Management?

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has ambitious plans to expand its fleet to around 100 aircraft. However, experts are questioning whether the airline's business challenges lie in a shortage of planes alone.

An aircraft is just one part of an airline's operations. Behind every plane flying profitably lies a complex system of route planning, ticket pricing, marketing, crew management, maintenance, ground handling, baggage delivery, customer care, digital reservation, airport slots, and professional management.

Biman has recently ordered 11 Boeing jets, taking its total order for the year to 25 aircraft. However, negotiations are ongoing for another 10 Airbus planes. The airline currently operates 19 aircraft.
