Biondo Investment Advisors LLC has acquired a new position in Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), purchasing 117,314 shares worth approximately $27,961,000 in the second quarter.

The stock comprises about 3.4% of Biondo's portfolio, making it its 7th biggest holding. This is not an isolated instance, as other institutional investors and hedge funds have also been buying and selling Amazon.com shares in recent quarters.

According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bard Associates Inc., Longfellow Investment Management Co. LLC, MilWealth Group LLC, Lifetime Wealth Management P.C., and Prudent Man Investment Management Inc. all acquired new positions or increased their stakes in Amazon.com during the second quarter.

In related news, Amazon's CEO Matthew Garman sold 14,541 shares of the company's stock on August 21st, while CEO Douglas J. Herrington sold 6,362 shares on the same day. The sales were made under pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plans.
