Block Island Authors Unite for August Meet-and-Greet
On August 8th from 4 to 6 pm, book lovers of all ages can meet four authors at the Southeast Lighthouse on Block Island. Kim Gaffett and Josie Merck will be there with their collaboration 'Some Birds of Block Island,' which combines vibrant watercolor illustrations by Merck with Gaffett's knowledge of the island's birdlife.
The book is not only an informative guide for nature enthusiasts, but it also celebrates the natural beauty of Block Island. As the back cover describes it, 'it is a slow page turner, to sit with and enjoy like a little museum in your lap.'
Other authors attending are Lars Trodson and Cat Urbain, who will read from their books, chat about their work, and sign copies. Their books showcase various aspects of Block Island, including mystery, adventure, and local lore.
