Boeing 737 Max 10 Approval Halted Over Software Safety Concerns
Boeing's 737 Max 10 certification has hit another snag due to a new software issue, according to Administrator Bryan Bedford of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA is delaying its decision on the largest variant of Boeing's best-selling narrowbody family until it assesses whether the flagged software concern constitutes a safety-of-flight issue.
The 737 Max 10 was in the final stages of approval, with deliveries to airlines set to begin soon. However, this new development has put those plans on hold. The FAA will not certify the aircraft until it is satisfied that the software issue does not pose a risk to flight safety.
