Boeing 737 Max 10 Certification Delayed by Software Issue
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has delayed its certification of Boeing's 737 Max 10 due to a software issue that could affect landing procedures.
Boeing had expected to receive the green light from regulators 'very soon,' but FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the agency will delay certification until it is satisfied that there is no safety-of-flight issue.
The software problem, which Boeing flagged last month, affects a vertical navigation system used during certain landing procedures. In some cases, this could lead to an aircraft missing an approach and having to go around to line up for landing again.
Boeing shares dropped over 6% in afternoon trading after Bedford's comments, extending earlier losses.
