Boeing 737 MAX Software Glitch Raises Safety Concerns

A previously undisclosed software glitch in Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft has come to light, which could cause an automated navigation feature to fail during landing. The issue emerged from a cockpit software update and can occur when flight crews alter their planned flight path after a missed approach.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this issue was identified by Boeing last month, and they informed all 737 operators about it. However, not all operators may be aware of the problem, as Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have asked Boeing not to deliver new 737 MAX aircraft equipped with the affected software.

Boeing has stated that their engineers are working on a software update to permanently address the issue, but it is unclear how many aircraft are operating with the flawed software. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also aware of the potential issue and will convene a Corrective Action Review Board to assess the situation.
