The Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo may look similar, but they have distinct differences under their hoods. One key difference is in the engines used by each aircraft - the 737 MAX exclusively uses the LEAP-1B engine, while the A320neo offers two options: the LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney’s geared PW1100G.

The LEAP-1B engine is optimized for the 737 MAX's airframe, with a fan diameter of 69.4 inches and a bypass ratio of 9:1. In contrast, the A320neo uses either the LEAP-1A with an 78-inch fan and 11:1 bypass ratio or Pratt & Whitney’s geared PW1100G.
