Boeing B737 MAX Software Issue Sparks Safety Concerns
Boeing has identified a software issue in some of its B737 MAX planes that could lead to the disengagement of the automated flight guidance system after a missed landing approach. The aircraft maker is working on a permanent solution, and engineers are developing a software update to address the problem.
The issue affects certain Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which may experience a reduction in automation during a landing scenario if the subsequent approach path differs from the one originally planned. As a precautionary measure, Boeing has issued an advisory to operators to reset the system following a missed approach.
Around 96 Boeing 737 MAX planes are operated by Air India Express and Akasa Air in India. While Akasa Air said its operations are unaffected, Air India Express did not respond to a query about the issue. Globally, more than 2,400 B737 MAX planes have been delivered to various airlines.
