Boeing Backs Saskatchewan Aviation Centre Expansion with $17M Investment

The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) and Boeing celebrated the grand opening of the expanded Saskatchewan Aviation Learning Centre, which aims to increase aircraft maintenance engineers in Saskatchewan and support the province's aerospace sector.

Boeing supported the centre's expansion with a $17-million Industrial and Technological Benefits investment, which helped double the centre's capacity for students from 25 to 50 per year.

Riel Bellegarde, president and chief executive officer of SIIT, said the investment was crucial due to the growing demand for aircraft maintenance engineers, resulting in a long waiting list of individuals wanting to take the program.

Bellegarde added that the centre's new facilities will allow students to work on live aircraft, as well as use simulators to enhance their skills and abilities.
