Boeing Challenges Lockheed Martin's F-35C with Exit Strategy Offer

Boeing has proposed an exit strategy for its F-35C competitor, the F/A-18 Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler to the Navy.

The move is seen as a challenge from Boeing to Lockheed Martin's F-35C Lightning II, which has been plagued by cost overruns and technical issues.

Boeing officials questioned the effectiveness of the F-35's stealth technology against modern air defense systems developed in Russia and China, citing the 'perishability of stealth'.

The Navy has ordered 22 more Growlers, which Boeing believes should be included in future strike packages to protect fifth-generation fighters from air defenses.
