Boeing Engineers Accept Tentative Contract with Higher Pay Raises
Boeing and its engineering union, SPEEA (Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace), have reached a tentative contract agreement after months of negotiations. The four-year deal includes higher general wage increases than Boeing's initial offer, which was rejected by union members in August.
The new proposal offers a 10% wage increase on October 16, followed by 4% raises plus merit-based increases between 2027 and 2030. It also addresses work-from-home policies and overtime limits for professional unit members.
SPEEA's negotiating team stated that the tentative deal represents 'a real step forward toward improving our pay and work lives' but noted it isn't everything they had asked for. The current contract expires on October 6, and if a final agreement is not reached by then, union members can go on strike.
The agreement comes as Boeing continues to struggle with delays in certifying its 737 MAX 10 and 777-9 jets. SPEEA members are critical to these efforts, and their approval of the new contract will be crucial for Boeing's progress.
