Boeing Engineers Approve Contract, Averting Strike
Boeing engineers and technical workers have approved a new four-year contract, averting a potential strike at the company. The agreement includes an immediate 10% pay increase after ratification, as well as annual raises of up to 6% depending on performance.
The contract was approved by 67.62% of the engineers and 53.48% of the technical workers, according to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace union. This group represents about 13,000 Boeing engineers and 4,000 technical workers.
Boeing had improved its offer after workers rejected a previous version with annual pay increases of just 3%. The new contract will allow Boeing to focus on stabilizing and increasing production of its aircraft, including the 737 Max 10 and 777X models, which are still awaiting federal approval.
