Boeing Engineers' Strike Threatens 777X Certification
Boeing's 777X certification is at risk due to a potential strike by 17,000 engineers represented by SPEEA. The union rejected an earlier pay deal but now recommends a new offer that includes a 10% wage hike effective October 16.
The strike could halt the certification process and disrupt production and delivery schedules for major airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Cathay Pacific.
A delay in certification would also affect 737 MAX output, which has recently increased to 47 units per month. Engine ETOPS issues add further technical hurdles to the program's progress.
