Boeing lands $14.7 billion contract to boost PAC-3 MSE seeker production
Boeing has secured a major contract to boost production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers. The seven-year agreement, valued at approximately $14.7 billion, was awarded by Lockheed Martin. This deal allows Boeing to triple its production capacity under a framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War, supporting the Pentagon's Acquisition Transformation Strategy and strengthening the nation's Arsenal of Freedom.
The PAC-3 MSE seekers are critical components in advanced Patriot interceptors, enabling them to identify, track, and engage a range of threats, including hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles. Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company's commitment to quality and execution, noting that early investments have positioned Boeing to deliver seekers at unprecedented levels.
To support the increased production, Boeing has made significant capital investments to expand its PAC-3 seeker factory. The company has also strengthened supplier relationships, modernized facilities, and improved processes to enhance first-time quality. Production ramp-up and hiring began earlier this year, with hundreds of direct and indirect jobs expected to be created in the Huntsville, Alabama, area.
The contract aligns with the U.S. Department of War's focus on accelerating the delivery of key capabilities to service members. Boeing, a leading global aerospace company, continues to drive innovation and economic opportunity through its defense and space systems.
