Boeing Lands $14.7 Billion Contract to Boost PAC-3 Seeker Production
Boeing has secured a massive $14.7 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to accelerate production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement seekers. The deal will triple output and create hundreds of jobs in the Huntsville area, according to a Boeing news release.
The contract is part of a larger $53.86 billion agreement awarded by the Department of Defense in July for PAC-3 MSE interceptors. Boeing will use recent capital investments to expand its PAC-3 seeker factory, strengthen supplier relationships, and modernize facilities with cutting-edge technology.
Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company's commitment to quality and execution. “Early investment and a relentless focus on quality and execution have positioned us to now deliver seekers at unprecedented levels in the near-term, and we’re committed to building on that momentum,” Parker said.
Production ramp-up and hiring to support the contract began this year, with hundreds of direct and indirect jobs expected in Huntsville. Boeing-built seekers enable Patriot interceptors to identify, track, and engage advanced threats, including hostile aircraft and hypersonic missiles.
