Boeing lands $14.7 billion missile seeker contract with Lockheed Martin
Boeing has secured a $14.7 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to produce PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers. The agreement, announced in a press release, establishes a seven-year framework aimed at tripling production of these critical components. The seekers are essential for Patriot interceptors, enabling them to identify and track various threats, including aircraft, hypersonic missiles, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
The contract aligns with the U.S. Department of War’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy and the Arsenal of Freedom initiative. Boeing has already initiated production ramp-up and hiring efforts, following the initial framework agreement. Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering seekers at unprecedented levels, citing early investments and a focus on quality and execution.
The deal is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in Huntsville, Alabama, where Boeing has expanded its PAC-3 seeker factory. The company has also strengthened supplier relationships, modernized facilities, and improved production processes to meet the increased demand.
The PAC-3 MSE seekers are integral to the Patriot missile defense systems used by U.S. and allied forces. This contract underscores Boeing’s role in enhancing military defense capabilities through advanced technology and strategic investments.
